In La Mer (the sea, but also La Mère, the mother), a salt water fountain becomes the symbol of an infinitely flowing body, in which images of the holy virgin, Mother Courage and weeping influencers, images of anger and tenderness merge. Fluctuating between idealization and disillusionment, unconditional love and frustration - experiences of motherhood and parenthood are as complex and contradictory as their socially normed role clichés. Based on art-historical and pop-cultural references, Aliénor Dauchez questions in her installative solo performance - also her own - ambivalent experiences as mother and daughter.
